a life documentary film

Harish

I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to film Harish.  From the start, he was welcoming and easy to be around. We spent time looking through old photos, sharing stories, and letting the conversation move at a comfortable pace.  He has a calm, thoughtful way about him that makes you feel heard and at ease, and such a great deep laugh.

Harish talked about growing up in India, the values he learned early on, and the path that eventually brought him to the United States.  He shared stories from his career as a physician with humility and gratitude, and spoke often about his family who clearly mean the world to him.

One of my favorite parts of the day was being shown his prayer room, a peaceful space that reflects what grounds him. I also loved seeing him make bread, something he’s really enjoyed in this season of partial retirement. Those small moments gave such a genuine glimpse into his everyday life.

This film captures Harish just as he is—thoughtful, kind, and deeply connected to the people he loves. If you’ve ever considered recording your own family’s stories while they’re still here to share them, this film shows how meaningful and simple that experience can be.
