From the moment I sat down with Paul, I knew his story was going to leave a mark on me.

 

He grew up in the small town of Clearfield, Iowa, a place that shaped him in ways he still carries with pride today. When his father passed away while he was in high school, life shifted quickly—but Paul’s resilience carried him forward. In the late 1960s, he served overseas in the military, and after returning home, fate brought him to the local grocery store in Clearfield where he met the love of his life, Maxine.

Paul shared about his passion for deer hunting in southern Iowa, the land he now owns and treasures deeply. But more than anything, he spoke about his greatest joy—his family. The love he has for his children and grandchildren is unwavering, and the pride in his voice is something I’ll never forget.
