From the moment I stepped into Alma’s home in Portsmouth, Iowa, I felt like part of her family. She welcomed me with open arms, just as she has done for so many over the years. As we sat together, surrounded by walls filled with decades of family photos, it was clear—her greatest joy in life has been her family.

Alma grew up on a small Iowa farm, working alongside her father and siblings, even driving a tractor when they finally got one. She still remembers life without electricity and the long days of hard work that shaped her. Later, she married the love of her life, Rich, and for nearly 65 years, they built a beautiful life together, raising five daughters and watching their family grow to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

This documentary is more than just Alma’s story—it’s a tribute to a life well-lived, filled with love, resilience, and deep family roots. I feel so honored to have captured her memories, and I hope her story inspires others to preserve the voices and stories of their own loved ones before they’re just memories.
